Down here at Makan No. 2 in Khakhra Bhawan, things stay pretty busy most of the week. Being on Moti Dungri Road means there is always noise and people walking by outside the window. At Om Handicraft, we focus on making things the old way. It’s not a shiny showroom. It’s more of a place where you’ll find wood shavings on the floor and the smell of raw materials in the air. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy stuff for us. We just show up, open the doors, and get to work on the latest pieces. The building itself, Khakhra Bhawan, has its own character. It’s been around for a bit and has that old-style feel. Sometimes the lighting isn't great in the back rooms, but it’s where we do our best work. We spend hours trying to get the details right on every item. It’s a small operation. Just a few of us who know how to handle the tools and the materials. We take our tea breaks outside when the weather is nice. Moti Dungri Road has a lot of history, and we feel like a small part of that. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town. We just want to make stuff that people actually want to keep in their homes. It’s a lot of manual labor, and our hands are usually dirty by noon. That’s just life here.
