We are located in C-Scheme, which is a place most people around here know well. Kasheeda isn't a massive factory or anything like that. It’s more of a quiet space where we focus on the work at hand. The name itself relates to the kind of needlework we do, which takes a lot of patience. If you come by, you’ll see people sitting and working carefully with their hands. It’s not the kind of thing you can rush. We’ve had this spot for a while now and the neighborhood has changed around us, but we stay pretty much the same. The light in the front room is the best for seeing the fine threads, so that’s where most of the work happens. Sometimes the tea lady comes by and we take a short break, but otherwise, it’s mostly silent except for the sound of the needles. We don’t have a big glossy catalog. People usually come in because they saw something someone else was wearing or they heard about us through a friend. It’s a small operation and we like it that way because we can see everything that’s going on. The cupboards are full of different colored silks and cottons. Every now and then we have to reorganize everything because it gets cluttered. It is just a normal, everyday shop trying to do things the right way without making a big fuss about it. We just sit, work, and hope people like what we finish.
