Jyotiba Phole Mobile Point

Down in Murlipura Bandhu Nagar at 104, things are usually humming with the sound of fans and the occasional beep of a phone turning on. Jyotiba Phole Mobile Point is where we spend our hours looking at small screens and tiny screws. It’s a small shop, mostly taken up by the workbench and the glass cases. People come in with phones that have seen better days, usually with cracked glass or batteries that won't hold a charge anymore. We have boxes of chargers and cables tangled up in the drawers, and it takes a minute to find the right one sometimes. The walls are covered with posters of old phone models that nobody buys anymore, but we haven't bothered taking them down. It gets a bit cramped when the afternoon rush hits and everyone wants their device back at the same time. We usually have the radio playing some songs in the background to keep the mood light while we work. My hands are usually a bit stained from the adhesive or just the general grime of handling electronics all day. It’s not a fancy corporate showroom; it’s just a place where we fix what’s broken and sell a few covers. The street noise from Bandhu Nagar stays outside for the most part, unless the door is propped open for some air. It’s a steady kind of life, one repair at a time, and we like the people who stop by.
