Homens Craft

Homens Craft is located at 2/609 in Jawahar Nagar. The workshop is usually a bit of a disaster zone with scraps of material and tools scattered across the benches. We don't really believe in keeping a pristine office because we are actually making things here. There is always a layer of sawdust or glue on everything. We have a few people who come in daily to help with the assembly and the packing. It’s a very hands-on environment and we don't use much fancy technology. Most of what we do is done with old tools that have been passed down or bought second-hand. The heat in Jaipur can be pretty intense during the summer, so we tend to start very early in the morning and take a long break in the middle of the day when it’s too hot to move. We don't have a big sign or a fancy showroom for people to visit. Most of our work is done for clients who have known us for years. We spend a lot of time just fixing little mistakes and making sure the finished pieces look right. It’s not a fast process and we often run behind schedule, but we don't like to rush things if it means the quality will suffer. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the city. We just want to keep doing the craft we enjoy and make enough to keep the lights on at the workshop.
