Out here in Pratap Nagar, things are a bit quieter than the main city center, but Khatipura Road still gets plenty of traffic. Our little corner is at 226, and it’s mostly just a place where we keep our stock of handicrafts. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy. Usually, someone is sitting outside on a stool watching the cars go by. Inside, the walls are covered with different pieces we’ve brought in. Some of it sits there for a while, and some of it goes out the door as soon as we get it. It’s a bit dusty because of the road work that’s always happening nearby, but we try to keep the items clean. We don’t really have a set way of doing things. If someone walks in, we show them around. If not, we’re probably in the back sorting through some new inventory or fixing a broken shelf. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we first opened, with more buildings coming up everywhere. But we’ve stayed right here in this same spot. It’s a simple business. We don’t use computers much, mostly just notebooks and pens to keep track of what’s what. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from morning till night. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a break, but mostly it’s just us and the crafts. We just hope people find what they like when they stop in.
