Gupta Medical & Provision Store

Our place is in Bani Park on Kanti Nagar, which is a nice enough neighborhood to be in. We run Gupta Medical & Provision Store, so it’s a bit of a mix of everything. One side of the shop has the medicines and the other side is full of snacks, grains, and household things. It makes for a strange combination of smells sometimes, but you get used to it quickly. We open up pretty early because people usually need something before they head off to work or school. The shelves are high and we use a small wooden ladder to reach the stuff at the top. It’s not a very large shop, but we’ve tucked things into every corner we could find. We spend a lot of time reading labels and checking dates on the packets. Most of our customers are locals from Kanti Nagar who have been coming to us for years. We know who needs what without them even asking sometimes. The afternoon is usually the quietest time, so we sit near the front and watch the birds in the trees outside. It’s a steady pace of work, nothing too frantic, but there’s always something to be put away or a customer who wants to chat for a few minutes while we bag their items. It's just a regular local shop. It's a nice way to spend the day and we've gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood.
