Our shop is tucked away at number 338 in Johari Bazar, which is one of the busiest places you could imagine. The streets are narrow and filled with people, rickshaws, and cows at all hours. We have been here for generations, and not much has changed inside the shop. It is a small space, but we have managed to fit everything we need into it. Gulabchand Kapoorchand Jain is a name that has been around this market for a long time. We deal with the usual items you find in this part of the city, focusing on quality rather than flashy displays. Customers often have to squeeze past each other to get to the counter. It can get very hot during the summer months, but we have some old fans that do their best. We know the other shopkeepers around us well; we’ve grown up together in these lanes. Most of our regulars are families who have been coming to us since my grandfather’s time. We don't do much in terms of advertising because the location does the work for us. We spend our days sitting on the floor or small stools, showing our goods to whoever walks in. It’s a traditional way of doing things, and we aren't in any hurry to change it. Life in Johari Bazar is loud and fast, but inside our shop, we try to take things one customer at a time.
