We started Gem Crafts a long time ago in Johari Bazar, and we’ve stayed in the same spot at Ratna Sagar along Msb Ka Rasta ever since. The bazaar is always loud and full of people, so we usually keep the front door closed to keep the street dust off the work tables. It’s not a very big shop, but there is enough room for a few stools where people can sit and look at what we have ready. My father used to sit in this exact same spot, and honestly, not much has changed since his time, maybe just the color of the paint on the walls. We handle a lot of different pieces, mostly for people who are working on their own small projects. You have to walk down a pretty narrow lane to find us, but most of the locals around here can point you toward Ratna Sagar if you get lost. Sometimes the tea guy from around the corner forgets our daily order, but that is just part of how things go in this neighborhood. We don’t have those bright spotlights or fancy glass displays like the big shops in the malls. It is just us, some basic tools, and the work we do every day. If you come by in the late afternoon, it is usually a bit quieter. I try to keep the desk organized, but the ledger books always seem to pile up no matter what I do. It’s a simple life here in the market.
