We make and sell stone statues and other crafts here in Chandpole Bazar. Our shop is located at 3320, tucked away in Mata Ji Ki Gali near Bhindon Ka Rasta. This is a very old part of the city and the lanes are quite narrow. You can hear the sound of tools hitting stone all day long around here. We work mostly with marble. My family has been doing this work for generations. It is something I learned from my elders. Some of the bigger moortis can take several weeks to finish. There is always a lot of white dust on the floor and on our clothes. It is just part of the work we do. People come from all over to find idols for their homes or for local temples. We do not have a catalog or a website. You just have to come and see what we have finished or tell us what you are looking for. Every piece is a bit different because we do everything by hand. Sometimes a piece of stone breaks and we have to start all over again. That is just how it goes. The shop is small and it is very crowded with statues. You have to be careful where you step. We do not do any real advertising. People find us because they know the kind of work we do here.
