Ganpati Store

If you walk through Khatipura Choudhary Market, you will find Ganpati Store tucked right in there. It is a neighborhood place where we sell all the usual things people need for their homes. I opened this shop because the market is always full of energy and I wanted to be part of it. The shelves are packed with everything from soap to snacks. Sometimes it is hard to find a specific item because we keep adding more stuff as customers ask for it. The morning rush is the most hectic part of the day. Housewives come in for their daily supplies and kids stop by on their way to school to grab a packet of chips or a pen. The floor is made of old stone and it’s a bit uneven in the corner near the rice bags. I usually sit on a wooden stool behind the main counter. I know most of the people who walk in by their first names since they live just a few streets away. We don't have a computer system or anything fancy like that. Everything is written down in a thick ledger book with a red cover. Sometimes the light bulb in the back flickers, but I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. It’s just a normal shop where we try to keep enough stock so nobody has to go home empty-handed. It’s a lot of work but it’s home.
