F.D.Handicrafts & Fabrication sits at Plot No.-82 on Amer Road, right near the New Ramgarh Mode in Hajrat Ali Nagar. It is a busy spot because of all the people heading up towards the fort. Our workshop is usually a mess of metal rods, welding tools, and pieces of wood. You can hear the sound of hammers hitting metal from the street. We do a lot of fabrication work, so there are always sparks flying somewhere in the back. The space is a bit tight with all the half-finished pieces taking up the floor. We have a small area where we keep the finished handicrafts, but it is not a showroom like the ones you see in the city center. It is more of a working space where things get built. The dust from the road comes inside every time a bus goes past, so we have to clean the surfaces quite a bit. It is a family-run kind of thing, and we have a couple of local guys who help with the heavy lifting. We usually have a radio playing in the corner to keep things from being too quiet when we are not using the machines. It is hard work and the hours are long, but we like being in this part of town near the old hills. Most days we are just trying to get the orders finished before the sun sets.
