Devi Exports

Barkat Nagar is a busy place and Gulshan Niwas isn't hard to find if you know 1161. We spend most of our time here dealing with boxes and paperwork. It isn't a fancy setup. There are stacks of samples in the corner and sometimes the fans make a clicking noise that we just ignore. Most mornings start with checking the ledger and seeing what needs to go out. The guys come in around nine and we start sorting through what came from the suppliers. It gets a bit cramped when a big shipment arrives, and we have to move the chairs around just to find space to stand. We have been in this spot for a while now. Barkat Nagar has changed a lot, but this building stays pretty much the same. Sometimes the phone doesn't stop ringing and other times it's quiet enough to hear the traffic outside. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that. People just walk in, and we talk over the desks. It's practical. We handle the export side of things, so there is always a lot of tape and labels lying around the floor. Lunch is usually just something quick from nearby or brought from home. By the time evening rolls around, we’re mostly just making sure the shutters are locked and the lights are off. It is just what we do every day to keep things moving.
