You’ll find Deepak Handicrafts inside Ganpati Plaza at number 325, right on M.I. Road. Being in this plaza means we see a lot of people passing by, both locals and folks visiting from out of town. Our shop is full of all sorts of handmade items, from small wooden pieces to various textiles and fabrics. It’s usually a bit crowded inside because we like to keep a lot of stock on hand for everyone to see. We’ve been at this location for a good number of years now, and we’ve gotten to know the other shopkeepers in the plaza quite well. It’s a friendly atmosphere, even when it gets really busy during the festival seasons. We aren't a big factory or anything like that; we just source things from local artisans and bring them here for sale. Sometimes the items have little flaws because they're made by hand, but that's just how handicrafts are supposed to be. We spend a lot of our time unpacking new boxes or helping someone find a gift. The lighting in the shop isn't always perfect, and sometimes the air conditioning struggles on the really hot days, but we manage just fine. We don’t go in for big sales pitches or corporate talk. People just come in, look around, and we help them out if they need it. It’s a slow and steady kind of business, and we like it that way.
