Over here at 34 Amer Road, we have Crafts Corner. We are right opposite Hawa Mahal, so there are always lots of tourists walking by. It is a busy spot. You can see the big monument from our front door. We sell various handmade items that we get from local makers. The shop is a bit cramped because we try to fit a lot of things on the shelves. Sometimes things get a little dusty because of the open door. We like to leave it open to get a breeze. It's mostly me and one other person here. We spend a lot of time talking to people who are just visiting the city. Sometimes they buy something, sometimes they just look around and leave. It is fine either way. The floor is old tile and it creaks in the corner. We have a lot of different colors and patterns everywhere. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. We don't really have a big staff or anything like that. Just a small business trying to stay open every day. The noise from the street is loud because of all the rickshaws. You get used to it after a while. We keep the prices written on small tags. It is simple work. We show up, open the shutters, and see who comes by. It’s a good view of the palace though. We like being in this part of town and seeing the history every morning.
