Champian Hair Art

If you go down Jain Mandir Road in Sanganer, you will find Champian Hair Art. It is situated very close to the Cts Bus Stand, which means there is always a lot of movement nearby. People are always running to catch their buses, but some have time to stop in for a quick trim. The shop is quite old and the walls could use a bit of paint, but it works for us. We have the usual stuff, some combs, a few pairs of scissors, and a radio that plays old songs. The floor is tiled but some of the tiles are cracked from years of use. It’s a busy part of Jaipur, so we get a mix of local people and travelers. I usually spend my day standing by the chair. My back hurts sometimes by the evening, but that’s part of the job. We don’t have a big menu of services. You just come in, sit down, and tell me how short you want it. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings over a glass of chai when it’s quiet. We talk about the local sports or the price of things in the city. Sanganer has changed a lot, but this shop stays pretty much the same. It’s a reliable spot for the neighborhood men. We just keep doing what we know how to do, one customer at a time. It keeps the kitchen fires burning.
