You can find Caldes Fashions at No. 62-B, Ormes Road, right here in Kilpauk. We have been operating out of this space for some time, dealing with all sorts of clothes and fabrics. It is a busy street, so there is always something happening right outside our door. Inside, we keep things pretty straightforward. We have racks of clothes, some sewing machines in the back, and a lot of fabric rolls sitting around in the corners. It is not one of those fancy boutiques with minimalist decor; it is a working shop where things actually get made and sold. We spend a lot of our time talking to customers about what they need and trying to find the right fit or style for them. Sometimes the shop gets a bit messy with scraps of thread and half-finished projects, but that is just part of the process. The staff here knows their way around a needle and thread, and we do not put on any airs about it. We are just local people working in the fashion trade. Kilpauk is a good area, and we have regular customers who have been coming to us for many years. We handle all the day-to-day tasks ourselves, from opening the shutters in the morning to tallying up the books at night. It is a steady rhythm of work that we have grown accustomed to. We do not use any fancy sales tactics, we just show people what we have and let the work speak for itself.
