C R Handicrafts is tucked away at 56 Johari Bazar. If you know Jaipur, you know how packed and noisy Johari Bazar can be at almost any time of day. Our shop is quite small, and we have things stacked up high to make use of every inch of space we have. It’s an old building, like most of them in this part of the city, and it has that specific smell of old wood and stone. We spend our days showing items to people who squeeze into the shop or responding to inquiries from regular customers. The street outside is a mix of rickshaws, tourists, and people doing their daily shopping. We have to keep the entrance clear, which is a constant battle with the crowds. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with all the different crafts we have stored. We don't have a fancy computer system or anything; we still do a lot of things the old-fashioned way with notebooks and pens. It can get a bit overwhelming when it’s hot and the bazaar is full, but we’re used to it by now. We’ve been at number 56 for a long time, and the shopkeepers next door are like family. Sometimes we sit on the steps for a minute to breathe when the shop is empty for a moment. It’s a tiny part of a huge market, and we just keep doing what we’ve always done, surrounded by the history of the old city.
