Brian Maths Academy

Out here on Sikar Road, things move pretty fast. Brian Maths Academy is tucked away at Plot No 41 in Vijay Badi. We’re quite close to Khetan Hospital so people use that as a landmark when they’re looking for Path No 2. It’s a straightforward place where we mostly talk about numbers and equations all day. The rooms aren't huge but we fit the benches in comfortably enough. There’s always a bit of dust from the road outside but we try to keep the windows closed when it gets too windy. Students come in after school with their heavy backpacks. We have a couple of whiteboards that usually have old marks on them from the day before. It’s a local spot, nothing like those big corporate centers you see in the city. We know most of the parents who drop their kids off. Sometimes the power goes out and we just wait for the generator or open the windows for light. It’s just how it is in this part of Jaipur. We spend our time checking homework and making sure everyone understands the basics. The tea stall nearby is where we usually grab a quick drink between sessions. It’s a busy life but it feels right being here in this neighborhood. We don't have any fancy lounge or anything, just a place to sit and learn maths. There is a lot of chalk dust on my hands by the time evening rolls around.
