Bharat Hair Dresser

Being right on Station Road means there is never a quiet moment. We are located right opposite the police station, so there is always some activity outside. The sound of horns and people shouting is just part of our day. Bharat Hair Dresser has been around for a long time. The shop isn't very large, but we make the most of the space we have. We have the old-style chairs that lean back for a shave. A lot of travelers coming from the railway station stop by because they need to look decent for a meeting or a family visit. We see a lot of different faces every day. Some people just want a quick trim and they are in a hurry to catch a bus. Others like to sit for a while and have a head massage. We keep the radio on most of the time to drown out the traffic noise. The mirrors are old and have a few spots on them, but they do the job. We don’t have a lot of helpers, just a couple of us working the chairs. We use the same types of combs and scissors we’ve used for years. It is hard work standing on your feet all day, especially when the Jaipur summer is at its peak. But we’ve gotten used to it. It’s a steady life here by the station, where the city never really stops moving.
