Beyond Beauty

Beyond Beauty is right there on Lajpat Marg in C Scheme. It's a busy part of Jaipur, especially with Rajdhani Hospital so close by. You can hear the ambulances and the constant traffic all day long. The shop at E-33A is where we spend most of our time. It’s not a huge place but it works for what we do. We have these big mirrors that we have to wipe down every single morning because the dust in this city just gets everywhere. The chairs are comfortable enough for a long sit. Usually, the morning starts with opening the heavy shutters and getting the towels ready. Sometimes the tea seller from down the street stops by and we have a quick cup before anyone walks in. People from the offices nearby come in during their lunch breaks. They usually look tired and just want to sit for a bit. We just get on with the work, cutting hair or doing whatever else they need. It’s mostly regular faces from around here. You get to know their stories after a while. The lighting inside is a bit bright, but it helps us see what we are doing. In the evenings, it gets more crowded and the noise from the street gets louder. We just keep going until it’s time to close up and go home. There is always hair on the floor that needs sweeping. It is just a normal shop in a busy part of town.
