B B Mathur

Our place for B B Mathur is at 25 Civil Lines, right on Bharatmata Path. It’s near the intersection with Jamnalal Bajaj Marg and not far from the old Rawly Gate. This part of town has a lot of history and the buildings are mostly quite old and sturdy. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a long time. The office is tucked away, so it stays relatively quiet even when there’s traffic on the main road. We have a lot of books and old records kept in large cabinets along the walls. The ceilings are high, which helps keep it cool in the summer months. There’s usually a pot of tea going somewhere in the back. We spend our days going through various tasks and meeting with people who come by the gate. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but it’s a nice area to walk through. The floors are stone and they’ve been worn smooth over the years by everyone walking in and out. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just the essentials for getting the work done. The gate is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. We generally keep to ourselves and focus on the day’s work. It’s a steady routine that hasn't changed much in all the years we've been located here. We try to keep the steps clean, but the wind blows leaves from Bharatmata Path right onto the doorstep.
