Azad Arts is at the Nursery Circle in Vaishali Nagar, specifically Vaishali Nagar 2. We do a lot of different things here, mostly related to signs and painting for local shops. It’s a workshop more than a shop. There are always cans of paint sitting around and brushes soaking in old jars. It’s a bit cluttered, to be honest, but that’s how we work best. I’ve been painting signs since I was a young man. Now, things are different with all the digital printing stuff, but we still do things the old way when people ask for it. The Nursery Circle is a busy spot, so there’s always something to look at out the window while I'm working. Sometimes the smell of paint thinner is a bit strong, so we keep the front door open. We don't have a big sales pitch or a catalog. People come in with an idea, we talk about it, and then I get to work on the board. It takes time to get the colors and the lines right. My hands are usually stained with some color or another, which my wife complains about. It's not a fancy studio with air conditioning, just a practical space where things get made. We’ve been in this part of Vaishali Nagar for a long time. People know if they need a board or some lettering done, they can just walk in and ask for me. We just keep at it.
