Avtar Hair Art

Down here in Kagzi Muhalla, the days go by pretty fast at Avtar Hair Art. We are located right near the old tempu stand in Sanganer, so there is always some kind of noise or someone shouting outside. It is a busy part of the 302030 area of Jaipur. The shop is a simple place where we spend most of our time with the shears and the spray bottles. We open up early because that is when the men heading to work start showing up for a quick trim or a shave. The old tempu stand used to be even more chaotic than it is now, but it still brings a lot of foot traffic past our door. You get used to the sound of the engines and the smell of the street after a while. Inside the shop, we have a few chairs and some old magazines for people to look at while they wait their turn. It gets hot in the summer, but the fan above the main chair does what it can to keep things cool. We know most of the people who come in by name since they live right here in the Muhalla. It is not like those big fancy places in the city malls. We just do the work, sweep up the hair, and close up when it gets dark. It is just a regular local spot for the neighborhood guys to gather and get a haircut without any fuss.
