Natwara House is an old building on Amer Road, and that’s where Anil Exports operates from. It’s a busy spot because of all the traffic headed toward the fort, so there’s a constant sound of horns and engines outside. Inside the house, the rooms are high and the floors are cool stone, which helps when the Jaipur heat gets bad. We use most of the ground floor for packing. There are cardboard boxes everywhere, and the sound of packing tape being pulled off the roll is the background music of our day. We ship all sorts of things, and every box has to be checked to make sure nothing is rattling around. The staff here has been together for a while, so we don't need to say much to get the work done. We drink tea in the small courtyard in the middle of the house when the afternoon sun is too high to be out on the road. The walls have some cracks and the paint is flaking in the corners, but it feels like a real home for the business. We don't have a showroom or anything fancy. If you come by, you’ll probably find us mid-conversation with a driver or trying to find a missing marker pen. It’s a lot of coordination and moving things from one room to another before they finally get loaded onto the trucks.
