People usually find us because they dropped their phone or their old watch finally gave up. We are right here at Gangouri Bazar 2201, which is always noisy with traffic and people walking by. The shop isn't very big. There is barely enough room for two people to stand behind the counter once the repair benches are set up. I spend most of my day looking through a magnifying glass at tiny gears or trying to peel back broken glass from a screen without cutting my thumb. Sometimes the parts don't come in on time and the shelves get a bit cluttered with half-finished jobs. It is just the way it goes when you are working with things this small. My hands are usually a bit stained from the oils we use or maybe some glue that didn't stay where it was supposed to. We have been in this spot for years. The floor tiles are worn down in the spots where people stand to wait. We don't have fancy chairs or a waiting lounge. You just stand there and chat while we look at what’s wrong. It’s a lot of squinting and using tweezers. If the sun hits the window right, you can see all the dust floating around, but that’s just part of being in an old building. We just keep the lights on and keep fixing whatever comes through the door. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy enough.
