South Eastern Carriers Ltd. is tucked away at 1 Shivaji Nagar, right behind the old Hakumchand Mill. If you know the area, you know the mill is a huge landmark, so we usually just tell people to look for that. Being back there means we’re a bit out of the main noise of the street, but it’s still a busy place with people coming and going. We’ve got desks full of logs and schedules because that’s just the nature of the transport business. It isn’t a glamorous office. It’s the kind of place where you’ll see old calendars on the wall and stacks of papers that have been there since last year. We focus on getting the trucks where they need to go and making sure the drivers are sorted. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and talk until it comes back on. It’s a very local feel here. Everyone knows everyone’s business in Shivaji Nagar. We’ve been in this spot long enough that we don’t really need a big sign. People just know where we are. The mill behind us is a constant reminder of how much industry used to be here, and we’re glad to still be part of the neighborhood. We just keep our heads down, handle the shipments, and try to stay on top of the paperwork without making too much of a fuss. The tea boy comes by twice a day and that's usually the highlight of our afternoon.
