REGAL IRON & STEEL WORKS

You can find Regal Iron & Steel Works over at number 38 in the Kibe Compound. It’s an old industrial area, and we’ve been here long enough that we know every corner of the place. We work with iron and steel, which is heavy and loud, so this compound is a good fit for us. It’s not a pretty office building, it’s a workshop with grease on the floor and scraps in the bins. We handle various types of metalwork, mostly cutting and welding according to what people need. My crew and I aren't big on talking; we'd rather just get the welding masks on and get to it. The compound can get pretty busy during the day with trucks coming in and out. We've got a rhythm down for how we move the heavy stuff around. It’s hard work, and your hands are rarely clean by the end of the shift. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just know how to work with steel and that’s what we do. People come to us because they know we’ve been at this address for years and we aren’t going anywhere. It’s a simple, honest trade and we take it one day at a time. The heat from the forge is something you just get used to. We don't complain, we just work until the sun goes down.
