Mekhalin Traders

The traffic at Gopur Chouraha is always something to deal with, especially when we are trying to get things into Plot No.2071. Mekhalin Traders is right here on Annapurna Road, and if you know Sudama Nagar, you know how busy this stretch gets. Our space is mostly taken up by the goods we trade, leaving just enough room for us to walk between the aisles. It’s a bit dusty because of the road construction nearby, but we try to keep the stock covered. We spend a lot of hours on the phone or sitting at the old wooden desk checking the ledger. There isn’t any air conditioning, so we just keep the fans running full speed during the summer months. Most of the people who come by are locals or drivers looking for directions to the next plot. We’ve got a routine down now, starting early before the sun gets too high over the chouraha. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but there never seems to be a quiet day to get it done. It’s just a lot of moving parts and keeping track of who needs what. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the plastic chairs until it comes back. It is just the way work happens here in Sudama Nagar. We are just a small team trying to get the orders out on time.
