About Girish Kalra Photography – Photography in Indore
I have been working out of Khatiwala Tank for a while now. My studio isn't huge, but it has enough space for the gear and whoever is coming in for a session. Most days I am either behind the camera or sitting at the computer trying to sort through hundreds of files. It’s a lot of looking at screens and adjusting lights until they look right. People think photography is all about the clicking, but there is a lot of carrying heavy bags and setting up tripods too. I usually have coffee marks on my desk and a few stray memory cards lying around. The area around Khatiwala Tank is nice, though parking can be a bit of a pain for my clients sometimes. I don't really go for those high-end studio looks where everything is white and sterile. My place feels a bit more lived in because I’m actually here working every day. Sometimes I lose track of time when I’m editing and realize I haven't eaten since breakfast. I just like capturing things as they are. It’s not about being fancy or using the most expensive filters. I just try to get a clear shot that looks like the person standing in front of me. It’s a quiet kind of life, mostly, except when I’m out on a shoot and everything is moving fast. I just keep my lenses clean and hope for good light. It is just me here most of the time.
