Indus World School is situated over at Plot No 9 in the Chhawani area of Indore. It’s an older part of the city, so the streets are a bit narrow and there’s a lot of activity going on all around us. The school building has been part of this neighborhood for a while now. Most of our students live within a few kilometers, so they are local kids who know the area well. We start our day quite early, getting the classrooms ready before the first bell rings. It’s a straightforward setup with rows of desks and plenty of books stacked in the corners. The staff room is usually a hub of activity with teachers grading papers and talking about the day's plans. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles, just the basics that a school needs to function. In the afternoons, the street outside gets crowded with parents and rickshaws waiting to pick up the children. It’s a bit of a squeeze, but we’ve all gotten used to the rhythm of it. Being located in 452001, we are right in the heart of things. We see the same shopkeepers every day when we step out for a quick tea. The school is a steady presence in Chhawani, and we just keep moving along with the school year, term after term. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do here every single day for the families around here.
