Nongpok Pukkei Organic Producer Company is located over at Kwakeithel Awang Thiyam Leikai. We share space with The Green Foundation, so there are always people coming and going. It’s a lively spot. We focus on organic farming and helping the folks who grow the food. Most of us grew up around farms, so it isn't new to us, but doing it as a company is a bit different. We have to keep track of more things now. The roads around here can be a bit tight, so getting trucks in and out is always a bit of an adventure. We spend our days checking on crops or sitting in the office trying to make sense of the paperwork. It’s not always fun, but it has to be done. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall or anything like that. We just want to make sure the organic produce gets to the people who want it. We talk to the farmers every day, hearing about their problems with bugs or the rain. We try to figure things out together. It’s a community effort more than anything else. Sometimes we stay late when there is a big shipment coming in, and we all just pitch in to get it done. It’s honest work, and we are proud to be doing it here in Kwakeithel. We just take things one day at a time and see what happens.
