Idukki Gold Plantations Private Limited

The office for Idukki Gold Plantations Private Limited is at Building No. 11/83. It is situated over in Arakunnelmuthalakkodam. People around here usually just call it by the local name and don't bother with the full address. Idukki is a place where you see green everywhere you look. We are part of that. The plantations keep us busy throughout the year. The weather changes fast here. One minute it is sunny and the next the clouds are coming down the hills. Our building is a bit old now and has some character. The number 11/83 is painted on the side near the old post box. It’s not hard to find if you are looking for the P.O. area. We spend most of our time out on the land or sitting at the heavy wooden tables inside. There is always a smell of wet earth and growing plants in the air. We don't have fancy carpets or anything like that. Just concrete floors that are easy to sweep after a long day. The name Idukki Gold is a nod to the area and what it produces. Everyone knows what grows well in this soil. We just try to keep things moving. Some days are long, especially when the harvest time is near and everyone is rushing. We drink a lot of coffee from the beans grown nearby. It’s a lot of work but it’s what we know.
