Vijaya Laxmi Ladies Tailors

Our little tailoring shop, Vijaya Laxmi Ladies Tailors, is located at 6-8-45 in Raju Colony. It’s a small place, mostly just a couple of sewing machines and piles of fabric everywhere. You can usually hear the sound of the machines clicking away from the street. We’ve been stitching clothes for the women in this neighborhood for many years now. It’s a busy spot, especially when there's a wedding or a holiday coming up. We have threads of every color imaginable hanging on the walls. Most of the time, the floor is covered in small scraps of cloth. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle a needle and thread properly. People bring in their own fabric and we talk about what kind of blouse or dress they want. We take measurements and write them down in an old notebook that’s seen a lot of use. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait a bit, but we always get the work done. It’s a very local business, and we know most of our customers by name. We don't do any big advertising; people just find us by word of mouth or by walking past our door in Raju Colony. It’s a simple life, but we take pride in seeing someone walk out with a garment that fits them just right. We’re usually here from morning until late evening.
