Venkateswara Traders

You can find Venkateswara Traders over on Old Eidgah Road in Madannapet. The address is 1-2/34, but if you get to the area, just look for the shop with the wooden counters and the bags out front. We’ve been in Madannapet for quite a while now. The neighborhood is always alive with people going about their business. Inside our shop, it’s a bit cramped because we try to fit as much as we can on the shelves. There’s usually a bit of a line in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work. We don't have a computerized system or anything like that; we still use the big red account books and write everything down by hand. It feels more real that way, I think. My uncle started this place, and not much has changed since then. We know most of the people who come in by name, and we usually chat about the weather or the price of goods while we’re weighing things out. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit and the floor is worn down from years of feet walking over it. We don’t have a big marketing plan or a website. We just open the shutters in the morning and close them when the sun goes down. It’s a steady life, and we’re happy to be part of the community here in this corner of the city. We just try to keep everything stocked and ready for whenever someone walks in.
