Photo Factory

If you are looking for us, we are right near the Ganesh Temple in Vanasthalipuram, not too far from the Enadu office. Photo Factory has been at 1-22 for a long time now. The shop smells like printing chemicals and warm paper. We spend our days cropping images, fixing the colors on old family photos, and clicking passport shots for people who are in a hurry. It’s a small space, and the walls are covered with samples of frames and some landscape shots we took ourselves. It gets really busy during the wedding season when everyone wants their albums finished yesterday. We don't have those fancy automatic kiosks. We do things by hand, checking the lighting and making sure the prints look right. Sometimes the printer jams or the computer gets slow, and we have to apologize to the customers waiting on the bench. It’s a very local vibe. People come in to chat about the latest news while they wait for their photos to develop. We know most of the people who walk past our door every day. It’s not just about the cameras; it’s about the memories people bring in on their thumb drives or old film rolls. Vanasthalipuram is a nice place to work, especially with the temple nearby and the steady flow of people from the main road. We just keep our heads down and keep clicking and printing, year after year, documenting the lives of people around us.
