Being in Banjara Hills is a bit different from other parts of the city because it’s a bit more upscale, but we still work just as hard as any other shop. We have a lot of these traditional Uppada sarees that we keep stored in cupboards and on long shelves. They take up a lot of space because we have so many of them. The lane we are in is usually full of cars, so it can be a bit of a squeeze for people to get to us, but they still make the effort. We spend a good part of our day just checking the threads and making sure no sarees are snagged. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that; it’s just us in this space near Road No. 8. Sometimes people come in just to feel the fabric and see the colors in person. We have to be very careful with the stock because these sarees are quite delicate. The staff here has been around for a long time, so we know how to handle the material without causing any damage. It’s a quiet kind of work, mostly just folding silk and talking to visitors about the different weaves. We stay open until late evening when the streetlights come on.
