Updating

Our place is in Telephone Colony, specifically at Plot No. 189 on Road No. 5. The address is Dr.No. 11-137, which is how the postman finds us here in Sri Ramakrishna Puram. Being in Hyderabad, especially in this part of Andhra Pradesh—well, it’s Telangana now, but the old records still say otherwise sometimes—means we are surrounded by a lot of quiet residential streets. The company name is Updating. It sounds a bit simple, but it covers what we do. We spend a lot of time on computers, just making sure information and systems are kept current. It isn’t the kind of work that makes for exciting stories, but it’s necessary. The office is just a regular room with good internet and a few desks. We’ve got some plants by the window that we try to keep alive. The colony is nice because it isn't as loud as the main roads. You can actually hear the birds in the morning before the day really starts. People in the neighborhood know us as the folks who are always at their screens. We take our breaks at the local tea point down the street. It’s a small team here, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from fixing a printer to data entry. It’s just a steady way to make a living in a city that’s always moving.
