The Tech Team

If you find yourself in Puranapul, you might stumble across our place in Rahimpura. The house number is 13-2-385/1, but honestly, it’s easier to just look for the shop with all the wires in the window. We call ourselves The Tech Team, which sounds more organized than we actually are some days. The space is small, and there’s always a laptop or a motherboard taken apart on the main table. It smells a bit like burning solder and old dust. Hyderabad gets really dusty, and it somehow finds its way into every machine we open up. We spend most of our time hunched over screens or trying to figure out why a hard drive is making that clicking sound. It’s not a quiet job. People come in with broken screens and look at us like we’re supposed to perform a miracle in ten minutes. We do what we can. Sometimes we’re working late into the evening, and the street outside gets quiet, which is rare for this part of town. We’ve got a small kettle for making chai because you can’t really think through a coding error without it. The shelves are overflowing with spare parts and cables that we might need one day, though we usually can't find the right one when we actually need it. It’s a bit of a mess, but it’s our mess, and we know where everything is.
