Tact Institute Of Design

Tact Institute Of Design is tucked away in Shanthi Nagar, right next to the More Super Market in Mehdi Patnam. If you know that supermarket, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. It’s an old building but we’ve made it work for a design space. There’s always sketches lying around and students talking about their latest projects. We didn't want a shiny, cold office space. This place has more character. We teach people how to design things and we’ve been doing it for quite some time now. It’s not a massive university, just a local institute where people can come and learn. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when a new batch starts, but we manage. The rooms are filled with drawing tables and computers. We don't have a fancy brochure or a professional spokesperson. We are just teachers and designers who like what we do. The neighborhood is lively, which is good for inspiration I guess. You can hear the noise from the street sometimes, but you get used to it. We keep things informal here. Most of the staff has been around for years. We just want to show people the basics and the advanced stuff of design without all the corporate fluff. It’s a practical place for anyone who actually wants to sit down and create something with their hands or a mouse. We stay open pretty late most nights for the students.
