Down at Survey No.- 127 and 125 in Dudeda Village, things move with the seasons. Surabhi Rice Industries Pvt. Ltd. is situated out here in the Kondapakka Mandel where there’s a bit more space for the big sheds and the drying yards. We deal with rice, which means we’re very busy when the harvest comes in. The air smells like husks and earth most of the time. We aren’t a shiny office building; we are a working site with tractors and heavy bags everywhere. The sun gets really hot on the tin roofs, but we keep the fans going. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving the grain around so it dries right and doesn't spoil. We have a small crew of folks from the village who know exactly how the machines should sound. If something sounds off, we have to stop and fix it right then. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters. We just focus on the rice. Some days are long, starting before dawn and ending well after dark when the trucks are lined up. It's a bit isolated out here in Dudeda, but that's where the work is. We make sure the bags are stitched tight and the rice inside is what it should be. It’s practical, hard work that keeps us connected to the land and the farmers around Kondapakka Mandel. We just do our part in the village life.
