Sri Laxmi Rice Mill

Sri Laxmi Rice Mill is located at No. 1-75/1 in Lingijiguda, which is over in the Saroornagar area. It’s a busy part of town, and the mill fits right in with all the other local businesses around here. We spend our days processing paddy and turning it into rice for the local market. The machinery we use is old but it still does the job most of the time, though we have to fix things ourselves quite often. It gets very loud when everything is running, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. The floor is almost always covered in a thin layer of husk and dust, no matter how much we sweep. We don’t have a fancy office or a receptionist; if you want to talk to us, you just walk into the shed. Most of our customers are local traders or families who want to buy in bulk. We keep the rice in large jute bags stacked up against the walls. It’s heavy work, lifting and moving those bags all day long, especially when the weather is hot. We don’t really do any advertising because word of mouth in Saroornagar usually keeps us busy enough. We just focus on getting the rice cleaned and packed without making a big deal out of it. It’s just a normal way to earn a living, working with the grain and keeping the machines turning as long as we can.
