Shree Modheshwari Shakti Anaj Bhandar sits at A 1444 on Moghalpura Station Road. Being right next to the railway station means there is constant noise. You always hear the trains and the sound of people rushing for their commute. This shop is an old one, and we have been selling grains here for many years. We keep large piles of wheat, bajra, and pulses on hand. The whole place smells like dry grain and those old jute bags. It is heavy work since we are always moving 50-kilo sacks from trucks into the storage area. Our backs are usually sore by the time we shut the doors at night. The building is sturdy, even if the plaster is cracking in a few spots. We don't have fancy displays; the sacks stay open so people can check the grain themselves. Customers bring their own containers or we pack things into small bags for them. When it rains heavily, the station road often floods, and we have to block the doorway to keep the water out. It is a dusty and busy way to live, but it is honest work. We know many of the regular commuters who stop by on their way home to get rice or dal. This is just a traditional grain shop doing things the old way. I remember when the station area was much quieter than it is today.
