Sk Engineering Services sits in the middle of the busy 90/G Ida Jeedimetla Shapur area. If you know this part of Shapur, you know it’s mostly about the hum of machinery and the smell of cut metal. Our spot is pretty much like the others around it, filled with tools and pieces of iron waiting to be turned into something useful. We spend the whole day at 90/G Ida working on different parts that people bring in. Sometimes it’s a small repair, other times it’s something more complicated that takes a few days of measuring and cutting. The air is always a bit thick with the sound of grinding, and you have to speak up if you want to be heard over the noise of the neighboring units. It isn’t the kind of place where you’d want to wear your best clothes because of all the grease and metal shavings that end up everywhere by noon. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning; it’s mostly just the open floor and the work tables. Most of the people who come to us are other local business owners from the Jeedimetla area who need something done right so their own machines keep running. It’s a long day, usually starting before the heat really sets in and ending long after the streetlights come on. The work is tough, but it feels right to build things with your own hands.
