Shah Engg

Down here in Asmangadh, Shah Engg has been running things for quite a while. It is a straightforward operation. We do not have a big corporate office or a bunch of receptionists. It is usually just a couple of us handling the engineering work and making sure the equipment is in good shape. The area is fairly quiet compared to the main city, which we like. Our building is functional, nothing more. We spend most of our time out on the floor or looking over diagrams. We do not really do the whole professional suit-and-tie thing. Most of the time, our clothes have a bit of grease or dust on them by the end of the shift. We get our work from word of mouth mostly. People in the neighborhood know where we are if they need something sorted out. The phone rings a lot, and sometimes we cannot get to it right away if we are in the middle of a job. We do not have a mission statement on the wall. We just have a calendar and a list of things that need to be finished by Friday. It is a bit old-fashioned, maybe, but it keeps the lights on. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but we just take a break and get back to it later. It is just how life is here. We try to keep our tools in the right place.
