We are tucked away in G.K. Colony on Road No. 11 in Banjara Hills. Being in this part of Hyderabad means we see a lot of activity, but our specific corner is actually quite tucked back from the main noise. Sashi Vangapalli Couture is the name on the door, but inside, it’s mostly just the sound of sewing machines and people talking about designs over coffee. We’ve been at 8-2-616/B/2/D for a while. It’s not a massive warehouse, but it’s ours and we know every corner of it. Working in couture sounds fancy to some people, but it’s actually just a lot of sitting down and looking at very small details until your eyes get tired. We have racks of clothes everywhere, and sometimes it feels like there isn’t enough space for all the ideas we have. The tea breaks are probably the most important part of the afternoon to keep us going. We don’t have a big corporate structure here. If something needs doing, someone just grabs it and does it without asking. We like being in Hyderabad; it has a certain energy that helps with the creative side of things. People come in and out, we show them what we’re working on, and that’s the day. It’s a lot of hard work, honestly. Not every day is a total success, but we keep showing up and trying to make something that looks good. That's the basic reality of our life here in 500034.
