Our office is situated right opposite Ramke House. It’s a practical location for us because it’s where everything started. We mostly handle building projects and construction work, so there are always piles of blueprints and folders full of permits lying on the desks. It isn't a very quiet office because there is usually someone coming in to talk about a site or a truck driver checking on a delivery. The walls are covered in maps and some old photos of projects we finished years ago. We don't spend much money on making the place look fancy because we are usually out at the job sites anyway. My shoes are almost always dusty from walking around on dirt and gravel. We have a small kitchen area where we make coffee, which is basically what keeps us going in the mornings. It’s a lot of paperwork and phone calls, trying to make sure the materials show up when they are supposed to. Sometimes things go wrong and we have to spend the whole day fixing a schedule. We are just a group of people who know how to build things. We’ve been around this area for a long time and everyone knows the Ramke name. It’s a straightforward business with no secrets. We just show up, do the work, and go home. There is always another project waiting when one finishes, so we stay pretty busy all year round.
