R Prahalad

I’ve been based in Hyderabad 500001 for a long time now. R Prahalad is the name I go by for my work, and this city has been my home through everything. My office is a simple place. I don't see the need for glass walls or expensive art. I have a sturdy desk, a computer that works most of the time, and a view of the local streets. Life here is fast, but I try to keep my work pace steady. I don't have a big marketing plan or a set of corporate values printed on the wall. I just think if you do the work and treat people fairly, things usually work out. Some days I spend more time on the phone than I’d like, and other days I can just put my head down and get through my list. It is an unpolished way of running things, but it feels more honest to me. I handle my own appointments and my own filing. There’s no assistant to go through, so when someone calls, they get me. I like the directness of it. Living and working in the same area means I see the same faces at the tea stall or the corner shop. It makes the business feel like a part of the real world rather than something separate. I’m just a guy in Hyderabad doing his bit, and that’s plenty for me.
