Praveena

I’m over at Orchids Apartments in DD Colony, Vidyanagar. The unit is S-4. It’s a decent building, and being in Vidya Nagar makes it easy to get around most parts of Hyderabad. Praveena is the name I use for the business. It’s not a big corporate office with a glass front or anything like that. It’s just a room with a few tables, some chairs, and my drafting equipment. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so it stays relatively quiet during the day compared to the main roads. I usually get started quite early before the sun gets too hot. A lot of the work involves sitting and drawing or checking on local regulations for building. It’s just me and maybe one other person helping out sometimes. We don’t have a website or any big ads running anywhere. Most people find out about the place through someone they know. The apartment complex is easy to find if you know the DD Colony area. I have a lot of books and old plans stacked up against the walls. It’s a functional space. I don’t spend much on making it look like a showroom because that’s not really the point of what I do. I just focus on getting the lines right on the paper and making sure everything is where it should be for the people I help.
