Prafull Ice Candy

We started Prafull Ice Candy out in Shanti Nagar on Varachha Road. It’s a busy part of the city with plenty of noise. We mostly focus on making those simple ice candies that kids like so much. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a workspace with a few freezers and the candy molds stacked up. We spend a lot of time mixing the colors and the sugar just right. In the summers, it gets really hectic here. We have to wake up early to get the batches frozen before the heat hits the afternoon peak. Varachha Road always has a lot of trucks and bikes passing by, so it gets a bit dusty outside, but we keep the inside as clean as possible. We sell to the local shops and also to people who just walk in from the street. It’s a small operation. My brother and I do most of the work ourselves. We don't use any big fancy machines, just the basic stuff that works for us. Sometimes we experiment with a new fruit flavor if we find good fruit at the market that morning. People in Shanti Nagar know where we are. We don't bother with flyers or anything like that. If the candy tastes good, people come back eventually. That's our way of thinking about it. It's hard work being on your feet all day, but seeing the local kids happy with a stick of ice candy makes it okay. We just keep the shutters open and the candies cold.
