Out here in Mothiganpur, things move at a different pace than the city. Our place is on Survey No 118/A and 118/E in the Balanagar Mandal area. If you come by, you’ll smell the seeds being pressed long before you see the gate. It is a noisy place when the expellers are running full tilt. We spend a lot of time watching the levels in the tanks and making sure the trucks get loaded properly. The yard gets quite dusty in the summer, and when the monsoon hits, the mud makes moving the barrels a real chore. We have a small crew and most of us have been here for years. It isn’t a high-tech office with air conditioning; it’s a working mill. We deal with farmers and suppliers every day, talking about how the seeds look and prices over small glasses of chai. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we have to spend the whole night fixing a press so we don't fall behind. It’s hard work and your clothes always end up smelling like oil at the end of the shift. We just focus on running the production and keeping the facility going. There are no big signs or fancy lights. It is just a sturdy building in a quiet part of the Mandal where we do our business every single day without much fuss. The trucks usually head out by five.
